Spring Clean Like a Pro

Updated: Apr 12, 2019

checklist & how to motivate yourself

Do you hear that? The sun is out, the birds are chirping, and you haven't been able to open your front hall closet for 6 weeks. Yep, it's time for some spring cleaning! Even if you don't like cleaning, you have to admit that spring cleaning just feels good.

Letting go of the old and making room for the new is a cathartic feeling that comes with cleaning and reorganizing this time of year. I'm sharing my 3 tips on how to have a successful spring cleaning session, and a printable checklist to help keep yourself on track.

Set yourself up for success:

4 easy things you can do right now to make your cleaning go smoother.

1. Make a list (or print off our checklist) to keep you on track. I like to pencil in my own rewards in-between tasks to keep myself working towards the end goal. Make sure that your task list is attainable! You don't want to be intimidated before you start.

2. Start early! No one wants to clean and reorganize once the sun is down.. Start as early as possible for optimal sunlight and energy. The earlier you start, the earlier you finish!

3. Do it with a friend. But, a virtual friend. Spring cleaning is almost like therapy, figuring out what stays and what goes. Physically bringing junk to the curb/garbage. But you can get easily sidetracked by moving from task to task. That's why I think it's important to let a friend know what you're doing so that they can keep you accountable.

4. Turn off the TV, turn on the tunes or podcast! Having the TV on as background noise can be dangerous for lazy people (like myself) who get pulled into the couch a little too easily. I like to play fun music or an interesting podcast to make the work go smoother.
