HOW TO Style a Coffee Table
Updated: Jul 26, 2018
A coffee table can sometimes feel like an awkward area to style up but it really is a perfect opportunity to showcase some of your favourite little treasures and it’s a great way to show off some personality. Depending on the shape of your table you can go about styling in a few different ways but when it’s a square or rectangular, you should divide it up into grid like sections.
They say three is the magic number, but I’m going to prove them wrong. To transform this square table all you need to do is follow these 4 steps.
Start with the larger items like books or trays.
Layer in some items for height. I almost always use some fresh greens or flowers with this step. A pretty vase with your favourite flavours or that cute little plant really can take this coffee table to just ok to pretty dang amazing!
Next add in those treasured little trinkets. I tend to layer them on top of the books.
Play around until you’re happy with it!
If you’re worried about the shape of your coffee table, there are also a few things to consider.
Is this table going into a living room, or a family room
Is this coffee table going to be the centerpiece of the room
Which type of finish (wood, glass, metal) best suits your style
Do you need added functionality? Like drawers or compartments
Answering those questions should tell you what shape to buy, but at the end of the day, choose something you like, that reflects your style.
After all - you’re the only one who has to look at it everyday!
