DIY Office Desk
Updated: Jul 5, 2019
Letitia is a #GIRLBOSS. She loves fashion and lifestyle and empowering females to openly discuss topics from mental health to sexuality. She is such an inspiration to me, so if there is anyone deserving of a proper working desk, it’s this gal.
Letitia currently uses an Ikea kitchen table as her desk! WHHAAAA!? - this has got to change.
A fashionista like herself deserves a desk that will not only look awesome but promote productivity. Everytime she wants to film a video about fashion, she moves her computer desktop to make room...and that’s just a waste of time and energy.
Letitia asked for a L shape desk so that she could have her desktop set up and have a place for her sewing machine. She also has a full time assistant working with her, so a place where two people can work was a must.
Letitia isn’t your average girly girl. She likes a mix of mid-century and modern, neutral colour tones, light wood colours and leans towards androgynous looks over feminin. A girl to my heart - Truly.
The Plan: Here’s the challenge - making an L shaped desk from scratch can get costly, almost to the point where even I would argue whether or not you should buy or diy. My goal is to not only give Letitia a desk, but make it completely cost effective as well. That’s why I’m making Letitia a custom made modern L shaped desk made out of ONE sheet of plywood. Not only does this make her desk affordable, it allows me to get creative about how a L shaped desk should look. It needs to be structural and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I’m sticking to a lighter wood stain, a modern looking structure and allowing a little storage underneath with a cubby. All in all - this desk is going to be one of the most challenging and rewarding DIY’s I’ve ever created!
